The Eastport seat ordered from Nautical Lumber came in recently, and I have a question: How far forward of the motor well is it supposed to be? It may depend on tilted-up engine clearance, and at that point a matter of personal preference. If there is a specific factory distance, I would like to look at that before drilling any holes. Since this is an upgrade to a Nauset, there are no indications on the hull for placement, at least none that I know of.

I thank Mr. Stennett for the precision build and beautifully finished mahogany. I appreciate craftsmen out there willing to support these old Whalers (shameless plug). bruce

On my 1966 Eastport the back edge of the rear seat plank is 12.5 inches from the front edge of the motor well.

Thanks for measuring that for me, I appreciate it. Will post a photo when mounted.
