My upgrade for the year is a forward shelter for my 170 Montauk. I would like to see some pictures of the shelter frame and how it attaches without the canvas. I have a local source but they have never built one for a 170 so I want some ideas before I launch the project. My profile e-mail is current. Thanx, Hal, waseca, MN |

Mills Canvas makes a forward shelter for the 170 Montauk. It's essentially the same as all the other shelters for the post-classic boats that don't have a gunwale ridge around the bow. Information from Mills is at http://www.millscanvas.com/ . Pick "Boston Whaler Canvas" and go from there (darn frames prevent a convenient direct link). For some details and photos of my installation of a 190 Nantucket shelter on my 160 Dauntless, see http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/shelter.html The Mills product was about $1000, though that was a few years ago now. When I looked into having one made locally, I got quotes from $3500 to $5500. -Bob |

I am aware of the Mills quality product. My canvas maker is affiliated with my BW dealer and will buils a complete front dodger for around $750 installed. I am just looking for pics of the frame and how it is mounted as this will be there first one. Thanx, Hal |
