Is it fair to say that the stern lifting eyes go directly through the fiberglass skins or solid glass along the edge [of a 16-foot Boston Whaler boat]? Looking at the wood diagram of the ears and measuring my boat I don't see the wood placed that far over. I would like to lift the boat and want to make sure the eye bolt area is secure.

I do not know either, however they are designed (by the company) for lifting the rear of the boat with equipment and an engine. I would think there is a lot of renforced glass in that area (I think there is some wood in that area also). When you lift your boat from the rear eyes do it from the inside will not damage the transom with the hooks and cables.
