I have a 2001 Yamaha 225 EFI on my 1987 Outrage 22 that has been suffering from a clog in a fuel injector. While I can certainly bring it in to the shop for an overhaul, I would like to become better equipped to deal with repairs like this on my own. I have read about removing injectors, soaking them in cleaning solution, and then connecting them to an air compressor, filling a tube with cleaning solution, hooking up the injector to a power supply and blowing them out under pressure.
I have also read about running Seafoam (or similar cleaner) with some gas through the engine to help purge any impurities.
Finally, I have read about folks that simply swap out a clogged injector with a spare, and then send the injector off to a repair facility for professional cleaning.
Any thoughts on the above?
