I need to bolt rod holders to the side of my Striper 15. How long do the bolts have to be to get through the whole side of the boat? The boat is out of town and I want to take all the supplies with me. Thanks

I wouldn't bolt anything completely through the side of the boat unless absolutely necessary. Is there nothing else to mount to? At the very least you could anchor some screws under the fiberglass using the "hockey puck" method. There is more information on this method on this site, but this one came up first:

I agree with tjxtreme, think before you do something like that...

I agree with everyone and would try to come up with a design that is less invasive on the hull.

It all depends on where you want them and how your boat is set up. I have 1 (used to have 2) rod holder on the back of my boat on the transom where a kicker motor would be. Take a 2x4 piece of your choice of wood 6 or 7 inches long and cut it into a wedge shape so you get 2 pieces. Then attach it to where ever you want on the boat with liquid nails or something along those lines. Screw 2 screws into the wood, but not far enough that they penetrate the hull. Then get a PVC rod holder, I have the kind with the flared out end, then drill 2 holes in it the size of the screw body and distance apart through opposite sides of the rod holder. Then screw them into your piece of wood mounted on the boat. All sizes are approximate but I hope you get the idea. Just make sure when you cut the angle on the piece of wood, make sure that with your rod in it, it will clear the top of the transom.

Mine has held for about as long as I can remember my grandfather having them on there. I could take a picture of it if you want me took.

Get a set of side railings for the 15' and add rail mounted rod holders.
I would not go through the sides of the hull.

Check out seasucker.com make all sort of suction cup attachments for boats with incredible holding power plus you can mount and move them at any time.
