The bezel around the outside of the side console door on my
'97ish Montauk is starting to flake the black paint like
crazy. It appears to be a zinc allow die casting. Any
suggestions on refinishing it? It doesn't have too look
original, just black and not flaking.

Chuck,
For all around utility use I favor the old standby Rust-Oleum paint. The stuff with its primer just plain holds up the test of time. We use it on all of our outdoor equipment. I have never seen the stuff flake or peel. The enamel just seems to remain flexible even when it ages. The next best step is powder coat but that is just such an expensive hassle to get done and if not done properly chips.
