I have a 2002 18' Dauntless and after 8 years consider it wise to replace the cable. Does anyone know the length of the cable needed? No specs. at back by engine or under center console. Motor is a 135hp Optimax Merc.

I don't know if this helps, but I have replaced several teleflex steering cables on different boats. I just finished replacing the cable on my montauk 2 weeks ago. The length of the cable(if you still have the old cable) is written on the black plastic coating of the existing cable. It is usually most visible within the first few inches or foot from the end that goes into the steering unit under the console.

looked under the console and their are three different numbers visible. one 4 digits, another 5 digits, and another with 2 letters and 2 digits. Anyone replaced cable on a 2002 Dauntless? Dealer needs length to order so when I trailer it up, a long trip, they will do it while I wait. Wants to be sure he has it in stock.

The last two number of one of the number sets is the length.

If you google teleflex and each number you will find the length.

What are both the numbers?
