Has anyone retrofitted a modern whaler hull with a dive door? The dock/boatlift/ boathouse geometry makes any other alternative infeasible. I was hoping for a list the hardware for a modification. Maybe from BW? Thx

I have not done it, but in Port Huron, Mi a couple of years ago I saw a Montauk with a custom stainless frame work in the stern that was made to basically hold a power wheelchair.

The fellow had a deck mounted davit (I guess it would be called that) with a power winch, he lifted the wheel chair with it and dropped it inside the framework and off they went.

It was a little heavy in the stern with the wheelchair & occupant but where there's a will there's a way....I thought it was pretty cool

This is not a good idea for a boat not designed for a dive door. Comercial products builds the boats specifically to have this option and can't retrofit after built. Especially on a recreational hull.

My previous post should have read, "The guy had a dock mounted Davit that he used to lift the wheelchair from the dock into the boat.
