Last weekend, I filled the oil tanks on my boat (OMC motors) completely full. On Sunday, I covered the boat and left it for the week. Yesterday, I pulled the cover as I prepared for this weekend's trans-Lake Michigan crossing and noticed oil all over the splash well. The vent cap plug -a little plastic nipple - on the oil tank for the port motor had failed and was leaking oil. I need to find the replacement. I did fashion a temporary replacement out of a small bit of fuel hose that I kinked into a scrunched up "S" with zip ties to seal it off. I ran the motor on the muffs and it was fine. I'm wondering if you know what this part is called so I can order a new one? Thanks. |

Buckda do not fill your oil container all the way up, needs room for expansion, also needs a vent for pressure release, maybe your plug was blocked... Try Boats.net 877 408 1499, 877 512 6287, ask to speak to someone in service....good luck |

Thanks. Found out that the "vent" is actually the oil return line for the old FICHT motors - so my "solution" should be fine until until I get hold of the right part. I was concerned that they pressurized the tanks like Mercury does - but it appears that is not the case for the OMC VRO. |
