The tie bar connecting the twin 150's keeps falling off. All of my adjustments to the length of the tie bar and tightness of it between the motors have failed to correct the problem. Appreciate any advice anyone has on this topic.

There are several tie bars and a couple of ways to connect them. A photo of your setup would really help.

Do you have dual hydraulic cylinders for steering?

If dual, are they side mounted thru the tilt tubes or in front?

Tie bars with ball joints fasten to the Yamaha pivot arm with bolts, so if it is falling off,is the ball with the bolt through it left attached to the arm? If so just replace the joint-ends as yours are worn out.

My boat has the Tie bars with ball joints fastened to the Yamaha pivot arm with bolts. I will try replacing the joint ends. Thanks for your help.

If your ball ends are aluminum housing and metric female threads they may be hard to find/hard to remove from the stainless rod.

McMaster-Carr has what you need, see WWW.mcmaster.com at page 1174 If you can't find them locally or you may decide to replace the whole tie-bar assembly from your dealer.

Teleflex has ends also but 1/2-20 thread so you would need a different rod.

All stainless is the way to go for replacement.
