seahorse	posted 02-16-2011 07:39 AM ET (US)             If you look closely the model number is probably V4S-15 which is a 1963 75hp manual shift Chances are it may be a combination of several different engines or has a different motor cover because a V4S-15 model had a magneto and mechanical shifting and no charging system. The Electra-Matic engines had electric shifting, a 12 volt ignition system, an alternator instead of an optional generator, plus the model designation was V4A-15

[T]hose were the numbers off of the transom mount, [Y]es, I suppose that could have been an "S" instead of a "5', but there is definatly an "R" after the "15." I will also check the block for any other numbers. [Changed TOPIC--contact the moderator for this topic--jimh]

[Something] is an "S" and not a "5". [Something] does have an "R" after the 15. [A]nd on the block the number J2385700 is stamped on what looks like a freeze plug. [T]hanks again for the help.
