Unfortunately, I put a little too much rub unto the rub rail, which resulted in a portion of the rail coming out of position on the right starboard stern corner.
The boat is a 240 outrage, and there is a u-shape part of the black rail sticking out. Any suggestions on putting it back in. I was thinking of putting some lubricant around the rail, and gently (or not so gently) hammering or otherwise forcing it back.
Any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Next time I will conduct a topic search before actually posting my issue. Based on past posts, it seems like heat and a mallet will do the trick.
Any other ideas are appreciated.

After heating with an air heat gun (or a handheld hair dryer) the black vinyl insert will become much more pliable than at normal ambient temperature, and you will be able to easily manipulate it back into the track. If more persuasion is needed, a rubber mallet can be useful.

If that does not work...get a BFH.

If the heat and manipulation do not work, I would use a 2x4 and rubber mallet so that it helps in flattening it out across the rub rail. Also, you don't get a bunch of round marks on your rub rail.
