The Starboard [sidelight] navigation [lamp] has gone bad. Assuming here, as it has functioned recently. The Port side still works. Before I remove the [lamp's] cover and lens, what sort of bulb is used? West Marine has left town, so may have to order new ones. Thanks, Glen |

I recommend you disassemble the lamp and discover the particular miniature electric light bulb that is used in your particular lamp. Typically you will find a miniature electric light bulb with a bayonet style base. While you have the lamp disassembled, be certain to check the wiring to establish that you have power available at the lamp. It has been previously reported that the wiring to the sidelights on the Boston Whaler OUTRAGE boats can be a problem, and you may need to run new wiring to the lamp. You should also check the lamp socket. It is also reported that the contacts in the lamp socket or the contacts on the light bulb itself can become corroded. In low-voltage circuits even a very thin layer of oxidation or corrosion can block the flow of current. To restore electrical contacts you can try wet-sanding them with very fine emery cloth, say 400-grit or higher, and an electrical contact solvent like WD-40. |

I believe [the miniature electric light bulbs used in the sidelight navigation lamp on Boston Whaler OUTRAGE boats] are [mentioned the trade name or trade number of a particular bulb, but this was found to not be the bulb used in this particlar sidelight lamp], which can be hard to find, I'm sure there is a substitute of similar candle power. A good automotive supply house can probably help, or one of the online bulb sites. |

West Warine has [the miniature electric lightbulb used in the navigation sidelights of Boston Whaler OUTRAGE boats]. I don't have the part number but would recommend taking the bulb with you to West Marine. If I can find the bulb part number I will post it here. I'm in the process of replacing my navigation lamps with Hella Marine LED deck mounted lamps. I am replacing them due to the bulbs going out numerous times fishing the rips of the Race at Fisher's Island for striped bass. I'll have a fish on and inevitably take some water over the bow getting back through the rips. |

Gentlemen--Thanks very much for the help. I will do these things and get the navigation light working. While I am at it, I will replace the port side also. Glen |

Gmoulder, I was finally able to uncover the boat and get to the bulb. The bulb is made by Ancor part #521076. Good luck and have a great boating season. |

Miniature electric lightbulbs are generally identified by a standard numbering scheme which is common across many manufacturers. I do not recognize that ANCOR part number as being a standard identifier for a miniature electrical lightbulb. It sounds more like their stock code number. |

West Marine lists the bulb as model #288938. As per the Ancor and West Marine websites it is listed as part #521076. The bulb is described as a double contact bayonet base bulb on the package label. Thanks for a great website Jim. It has been invaluable in helping me restore and update my 1988 18' Outrage. |

The trade name for that bulb is probably 1076. Here is an example of a reference to it with that identifier: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/GE-LIGHTING-Miniature-Lamp-6VF34 Armed with that information you can likely find many more sellers of this product. |

The trade number is 1076. Installed the [Hella Marine lamps] yesterday. Time to paint them with Krylon Fusion 2437 as per members on this website. Thanks again Jim. |
