Will [a Moeller 24 Gallon Topside Fuel Tank designed for Boston Whaler boats] fit under an 1985 Montauk RPS? What other sizes will work even if they are smaller[?] [Are] see-thru [on-deck fuel tanks made]? Thanks |

The Moeller 24-gallon on-deck fuel tank designed for Boston Whaler boats has been the topic of many prior discussions where it was established, as I recall, that it does fit under a reversible pilot seat. I believe that fitting under the reversible pilot seat was the raison d'ĂȘtre for the design of the tank. I recommend you read this long thread whose topic was that particular tank: New Moeller 24-gallon On-Deck Fuel Tank There is an article in the REFERENCE section whose topic is on-deck fuel tanks. That article describes a number of on-deck fuel tanks which are suitable for use on a Boston Whaler. See: On-deck Fuel Tanks

Depending on the lighting conditions, I suspect that the white Moeller fuel tank might be somewhat translucent, and one might be able to see the fuel level in the tank. |

I can't see the fuel level through the side of my Moeller. |

I can see fuel the level on my red moeller tank. When I first got the tanks I started empty and went to the gas station with a sharpie and marked the side at 5 gallon intervals till I got 25 in there. |

Mr. T I did the same thing when I installed my red tank 3 years ago. The sharpie marks lasted about 1 year (barely), now I just look at the level through the tank. My suggestion would be to use an engraver and mark the tank so if the marks do go away you'll have a reference to remark the tank. |

Far as the old Red tanks, can someone send me a link to where to order one or know the particular model number? Thanks |

I installed one last year and it fits perfect. The angled fill neck makes topping off the tank easy...I can stand on the trailer, lean over and fill, no problem. The gas cap is also the fuel gage. You can easily look back over your RPS and see the current level. No need to mark anything and no having to run additional wires for a fuel gage. While it's not camo (LOL) the white tank is barely noticeable so people have a tendency to look at the rest of your teak and other quality points of your Classic 17. Would never go back to the old red Tempo design. Good Luck |

Beware of shipping costs. In shopping for one of these Moeller 24 gallon Whaler tanks, I've found different vendor shipping costs vary between $9.99 and $47.00. |
