Longtime Whaler wannabe here...now newbe! We came across a 1979 15' Sport in good condition. The family is really enjoying it.

There is a bracket mounted on the floor near the bilge...any idea what it is?

There is no mast for the stern light which I found online....but there is no pull switch at the helm for lights....but there is the on the port gunwhale...

I found on this website the wiring diagram for the lights, but what part does this item play? Am I correct in the the wiring is under the black rubrail?

Any thoughts appreciated!

The terminal strip at the aft of the gunwale is where the concealed wiring to the navigation lamp at the bow terminates. You apply 12-volts to those terminals and the combined sidelight lamp should illuminate.

That boat a Striper 15 not a Sport 15.

The bracket may be an artifact of a ski pylon, the base perhaps. Is there corresponding hardware on the transom?

Appreciate the clarification. Not sure on the transom. I'll post a pic tonight.
