Does anybody know what the thread size is for the nut that holds the steering wheel on a Baystar helm? I lost the nut somewhere in my garage and if I cannot find it I am hoping it's a standard thread size so that I can pick one up locally.

I would GUESS it to be a 5/8" fine thread locknut, but thinner than normal nut thickness. Whatever size it is, I think it fits a 1" socket. But don't hold me to any of this! I recently installed a Baystar system on a Montauk and I'm only going from what I remember, not actual dimensions.

I would guess one of these is hard to find, so you may have to order one of those from Teleflex directly, unless a local boat dealership has an old one laying around somewhere.

5/8-18. But it'll be hard to find anywhere in stainless. Best to get it from SeaStar.

Lol. It's best if I can find the damn thing in the garage. I am hoping that as I get more of the parts back on the boat it shows up. I probably put it someplace so I would not lose it. Another senior moment.

Thanks for the info.
