I finally went down and picked up my red Barbour rubrail insert today after lunch. They had black but I thought the red would be more original on my original red rubrail 19'. This is more of a dark red than fire engine. I think it will match the decals perfectly or closer than the OEM did. I am one step closer to getting my revenge ready for the market.

PS..a couple years ago I bought the rubrail from a group buy but no insert. Now I am complete and ready for install. Why is it we wait until we sell something to make it as close to perfect as possible? I have been cruising around with a crap rubrail for 6 years that every time I bumped something a rivet would break and the rail would come lose...ugh!

Good move, Nick. Where did you get it? I wasn't aware that anybody other than Sue had it. Mine is more like a medium red, and I believe it the same as the original color according to Barbour.

I don't know why, but a fresh red rubrail REALLY transforms the look of the 19's. I have also determined that it looks great on a V-20 or 22 Outrage, as originally installed, but soon changed to black. If I had a 22, it would definitly get the red insert.

My 19 is rapidly becoming one of my favorite boats. I absolutely love this hull and it's incredibly stable, roomy interior, with all the teak trim.

Good luck on your sale. At some time in the future, you are going regret selling that boat.

Larry,

According to Sue, she is out of all stock for both the rub rail and insert. Reguardless, the red looks right on so many of the classics. It adds a level of Class I think..

On a side note, I still have a extra complete Rubrail and Red Insert kit for a Newport I would sell.

They have at least 200' of darker red insert. If anyone is interested let me know. Mine is sweet, made by Barbour and fits like a glove.

Nick, who has it? Marine Surplus?

Of course. When you look at it in the shop it looks almost maroon. When you get it in the sunlight it looks brighter. I had dye matched to my decals and I dyed my faded rubrail back in 2005. Looked great but I left pink marks on everyone's boat. It eventually wore off. This insert is very close to the dyed color.

Don't worry Mike...the Donzi has an aluminum rubrail with no insert. It leaves nice gouges instead of pink marks.

Is this something that would work on a Classic 15 ?
If so would it be possible for me to get enough of the red insert to do mine?
Thanks
Keeper
