[The author begins by saying that he has] just [applied] Flag Blue AWLGRIP [brand paint] to my [Boston Whaler REVENGE 25], and it [is] time for a boot stripe. How wide should [the boot stripe be]? The bottom is black anti-fouling paint, and the boot stripe is going to be white. How wide is the factory black stripe? Thanks for all help.

Is there no one that has applied a boot stripe on a 25' whaler? |

Not on a whaler, And I used black tape, the tape is 2 inches on the bottom with a 1/4 inch space and then another 1/4 tape over the 2 inch piece. I used black tape, the hull color is sea foam green with a white bottom, so it was easy to follow the line on the hull, there is no bottom paint and my boat sits on a trailer. |

I started off with 2" boot stripe. Too big, imo for a 80's whaler with the little freeboard they have. Any other suggestions? |

C, I think since you have painted the bottom of your boat is more of a personal preference now since whaler did not paint their boats from the factory.(I'm surprise no one here has not given you the correct width of the stripe) What I'm trying to say is that your bottom paint is not going to be the same as another boats painted bottom (same amount of bottom paint on the side of the boat or not). To have a clean look the bottom of the strip/stripe should contour your paint, now I would make a template in different sizes and just hold them up to see what is more to your liking. |
