The throttle that was installed with my new 2011 OptiMax 250 outboard is a Mercury Remote Control Single With Trim (part # 8M0041431).

I need to disconnect the unit's cables in order to remove the console from the boat. A shot of the cables:

These appear to be wrapped in tape. Any suggestions on what's involved in disconnecting (and reconnecting) them? Is any special adjustment required when I reconnect them?

Looks like the tape was put on just to protect the cables near the entrance to the fittings. Just pull it off! The cables disconnect from the control very easily: Unscrew and remove the black plastic cover plate and you will see how they are connected. 5 minute job....Good luck!

Thanks, I found the installation leaflet from the shop that did the rigging, and it does look pretty straightforward.
