I have a 2004 130 Sport that lives in the water full time at my home. It has a tendency to list to starboard at rest, and I am considering relocating the battery box (which sits to starboard directly underneath the driver's side of the center bench seat) more towards the center line.

Looking at the wood diagrams on the Whaler site, it seems that there is plywood backing all along the space underneath the seat which should allow for placement of screws for mounting hardware, etc.

Has anyone on the forum ever done such a modification? Any pearls of wisdom or pitfalls to look out for?

Jack, I also have a 2004 130 Sport. It came with 2 dealer installed batteries (1 for trolling). Both were located under the starboard seat. I moved both under the port seat. Only challenge was recabling with new cable lengths. No problem screwing battery case straps to the floor The gas tank, which previously occupied that under seat spot, was moved ahead, under the forward seat. I had to buy a low profile gas tank from Mercury to make it fit (the forward seat has less clearance under the seat). Also added a longer gas line. Now I have the "fixed" weight on the port side, partially offsetting the weight of the pilot (me). Dave
