Just Thought I'd share my most recent upgrade/modification. I was not a big fan of my previous leaning post. The pedestal mounts prevented a cooler from being stored flush on the deck under the post, the edges of the cooler would rest on the pedestal mounts. It also had no back rest and the form factor was not to my taste.

I was concerned about removing the old post, thinking the bases would have secured to the deck with 5200. Upon removal (using a hand held impact wrench made this job so much easier), I found that post had been screwed into the deck with only silicon on the screws. Therefor the removal was a cinch. I never had any issues with the post/mounts over the last 2+ years.

The used leaning post I purchased (Taco Marine Neptune II) came off of a classic 18' Outrage. The previous owner told me it also was not bonded to the deck with any adhesive. It only had 5200 on the screws.

I reupholstered the fabric with some Marine Vinyl from Joan Fabrics and installed. I decided to use a bead of 4200 around the perimeter of the posts's feet to prevent water from getting to the undersides. I used 5200 on the holes/screws.

Here are images of the upgrade.

Poop...? I don't know about that. Upholstery place wanted $250 +. I like spending money on the boat, but I don't see the value there. Looks good enough to me.

Looks good to me! What are you fishing for that you need that little billie club??

Thanks. Salmon and Halibut primarily get a taste of the anesthesia. Prevents them from flopping about (Halibut go insane once on the deck) and bruising themselves.

We try to preserve out catch the best we can.

OK, I retract the "poop" comment, that is harsh.
$ 250.00 to cover a seat & backrest, that is a little high.
I could see $ 200.00, I guess beauty is in the eye of the
beholder, and the fish probably don't mind.
