On my Boston Whaler boat there are two locations for plugs in the stern of the boat: one accessible while in the boat in the floor, the other on the outside of the boat. Both plugs seem to be for the same tube. I keep my boat on a lift and wash it down after every outing. Can I simply use the plug on the inside of the boat? I can access both plugs but leaning over the rail and inserting or removing the outer plug tends to lead to ruined clothing from gas and oil residue and sore muscles the next day. Thanks.

Either plug location is fine to use. I use the inside plug on my Montauk. If water gets in the boat while I'm in it, I can pull the plug easily and let the water run out while I'm running. If I put the plug in the outside hole, I would have to wait until the boat was on the trailer before I could drain the water. |

You should not install any plugs on your (unlisted model) of Whaler from the exterior. They should be installed from the interior only. |
