andygere	posted 08-01-2000 02:50 PM ET (US)         I am considering purchasing a Montauk with this motor. Does anyone have any info on this or similar outboards? Any common problems, performance issues etc.? I plan to test drive this weekend, and compression test, but what else? Boat and motor are clean and well maintained. Thanks, Andy
whalernut	posted 08-01-2000 05:57 PM ET (US)             Andy, like I said in you`re other post, the V-4 Johnson is a bear. On my 73` `16 Currituck it flies. It feels like its walking on water when full out. No dought it`s a great engine for heavy loads or skiing or whatever. The only thing is it`s a little high strung for trolling. I am selling or tradeing mine for a 60-70h.p. something. Hope this helps-Jack Graner.
