On my Montauk, I bungie the skis to the side rails. The vertical part of the rail and the little short 1" horizontal piece get covered with the appropriate size car heater hose slit lengthwise.
You may be able to something similar with your GLS.

Thanks, I've looked into that but it looks like my particular skis would also have to rest on the fiberglass. Even with some sort of padding I'm afraid with all the bouncing the boat does (and with my luck) that it wouldn't be too long before I was looking to do more glass repairs. Anything else...?

JB, Overtons has a ski carrier that is designed to mount with screws to the aft deck of a run-about. You may be able to rig it with a detachable mount. Good luck! chad (overtons.com)
