I just received my November 2000 issue of "Offshore" magazine and one of the feature articles has the magazines boat tester trying out the cream of the crop of new 4 stroke engines for his BW Montauk. He tests and provides the data for the Mercury 90 two-stroke, Suzuki 70 four-stroke, Honda 50 four stroke and the Mercury 60 Big Foot four stroke. I can't plagiarize the article but if you go down to your local Walden books or favorite magazine store, you can pick up a copy. The details are excellent, the data includes rpm, knots, gph, nmpg, angle and range for each engine. The author also includes the best prop and weight (ie passengers, fuel, load) for each test. The article also includes a side bar " Choosing the right engine for your boat". I will leave you with this. The author, for his needs, chose the 2001 Mercury 60 Big Foot, but it is better if you read it for yourself. Kurt

Interesting I just got a very similar (perhaps the same) article in The Chesapeake Bay magazine. It was a local worker for the bay foundation that tried the exact same power choices on the same boat.

They are sister magazines and often run the same articles, especially boat tests, etc.

I went to 3 different book and magazine stores and was unable to find a copy of either magazine. If someone would be willing to fax it to me, I would really appreciate it. My fax # is (713) 993-2424. Many thanks!

I am also unable to find this magazine in landlocked Vermont! Don't mean to make this a big fax job but my # is 802 362 4706 if possible.

Thanks

Kurt thanks for the fax. I hate to impose, but could you do it again. I only got a fuzzy title page and two blank pages following. Dislike putting you to the trouble, but I've been to every magazine outlet around and can't find Offshore. Thanks.
