Merc 90 4-stroke on Montauk

I just purchased a 90 Merc 4-stroke to replace the 75 2-stroke on my commercial 17 Alert with a modified Montauk console. Does anyone out there have this motor. I believe Yamaha builds the block for Merc and that the outputs for the two engines are very close (Am told the Merc puts out 10% over for 99 HP). What will this motor run? I run a 19" prop on my 75, so maybe a 21"? Anyone turn a 4 blade SS? I am anxious to get it mounted. They do look huge! I've played around with weight and it is not a factor.

I'd be interested in hearing about your engine when you get it installed. I believe it is the same as the one Yamaha markets as a 100. From what I understand, these powerheads are a joint venture of Merc & Yamaha, but Mercury makes the short block assembly, and Yamaha furnishes the heads and valve components. Then they each do their own mid and lower unit designs. Check back in the threads for info on Merc's propeller sizing website calculator.
