Topic:   Yam 70 jet for 16-7 Whaler

posted 01-25-2001 04:49 PM ET (US)         I'm looking at a slightly used 2000 model Yamaha 70 with a conventional prop drive lower unit and an optional jet drive lower unit. The owner wants five grand (or less if I can negotiate it) for the engine and both lower units, four grand for the engine and either one of the lower units. Any thoughts on whether or not this is a good deal and whether the engine and lower units are suitable for a 16-7 Whaler? I'm sure the 70 prop unit is reasonably suitable; What about the jet?
