I am currently working on a 83 model 15 that has a 50 OMC. The engine is in the last hole so to speak, dead against the transom, I have a 4" set back plate but I do not know how high I should set the engine above the transom. Would some of you 15 owners tell me approx where your anti cavitation plate is in relationship to the bottom of the transom. I know this is just a starting point. Also does any one have guestimate as to GPH I will be using at cruise? I plan on putting in a 9 gallon Moeller tank and using one of the original steel 6 gal OMC tanks as an aux if I really need to go the distance. Thanks James-O |

The relationship between the bottom of the hull of my 15-Sport and the cavitation plate of my 50-HP Merc can be see in http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/15/images/whaler15Transom384x261.jpeg . I think mine is mounted flush on the transom top. Maybe it could move up a bit for more performance. --jimh |
