I have several holes in the bottom of my 13'.
They were caused by years of the boat resting on an old rusty trailer. Do I need to cut the old fiberglass away and do a patch, or can I use epoxy? The holes are about 2-3 inches in diameter, foam seems to be intact. I don't care about cosmetics- I'm going to re-paint the bottom. I want the easiest fix possible (short of taking the boat to a fiberglass repair shop!).

Boston Whaler has very specific instructions on how to do this type of repair, so that the glass matting patch adheres properly.
