John Fitzgerald	posted 04-17-2001 04:07 PM ET (US)             Not sure what you meant by performance, but have some info. I have a 72 Sport with a an '86 Johnson 40 hp. I chewed up a gear in the lower unit last summer. The dealer who repaired it water tested it and tach'ed the motor. I had too large a prop on it and by dropping the size picked up 600 rpm and a bunch of mph.
ron miller	posted 04-19-2001 10:33 PM ET (US)             so far so good, we have a 75 sport with a 82 40 horsepower Evinrude, and I would not change it for anything, just got done re jetting the carb's pushing 50 horsepower, with a stainless steel prop from West Marine, in the process of restoring the boat to original condition, looking good so far
