I am considering buying a 1995 70 hp Yamaha with stainless prop for my 1991 GLS. Does anyone out there have or had a similiar setup? I am wondering what kind of top end I should expect. I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked.

Although the GLS has a few more options than the 1985 15' Sport that I own, expect in the 40-50mph range depending on the weight of the occupants of the boat, and the prop you are running. With just me (140lbs), and a glassy smooth lake, turning a 19" pitch prop on my 70Hp Johnson will propel the boat to a frightening 48-50mph. Chine walking is quite a pronounced above 43mph. Gusts of wind feel as if they could easily flip the boat at those speeds (and I expect they could!). I rarely get to run at this speed, and really don't feel comfortable doing so. I really use the 70Hp for pulling skiers, not for flying along at 50mph...
