just put a merc 4 stroke(65 hp) on my 1970 17" whaler. because of the way the transom is, i could not mount the engine any lower. after trimming the boat @ speed the boat starts to porpoise. any suggestions?

Fyi.. I am not over trimming, the boat just starts to porpoise after it gets on plane.

A few things. What do you mean by lower? Is the engine sitting on the transom or do you mean trim angle? There is a metal bar that sets your minimum trim, make sure that is on bottom hole. You might have water in your hull if the trim is tucked all the way in. that engine is not heavy enough to make a difference.
