I suspect that the diaphram in your fuel pump is getting a little weak, Grandmufti.

When you tilt her the carb floats put slight pressure on the needles even with almost empty bowls. Your pump may not be able to overcome that anymore. Another possibility is floats set too low.

A pump kit doesn't cost much, but if you want to verify it your manual should tell you what fuel pressure the pump should generate a cranking speed (ignition OFF, switch bypassed to the solenoid).

Good luck.

Could I presume the float level is ok as it worked fine before.I am presuming the float level would not change unless manually adjusted.Could it have changed on its own?

Floats can take on gas. The metal ones
can leak, the plastic ones can absorb gas.

And the little tang that lifts the needle
can bend or wear.
