I am considering a '90 22' revenge with a 200 horse merc main and 20 merc kicker. At the present time I do not have the engine #s, but does anyone have info on these engines in this time period? I currently have an '89 merc 40 horse that has been fine. Thanks.

I had a pair of 1989 Merc 200's on my Whaler.
Great engines until they got stolen!
The only problem Merc had with those engines was head gasket corrosion. The problem was later corrected, but be sure that upgrade has been made. They offered a 3 year corrosion warranty, and mine were redone under that, before they went bad and damaged the cylinders with water intrusion. So you might want to have head gaskets checked before buying. It's not to difficult or costly to do.
The 1997 EFI engines I replaced mine with are much quieter running, but not any faster.
