Bigshot has me so excited about his repower
I'm getting hot to get started. I've decided
on a 30 hp Honda (157#)with a CNC PT-35 PT&T (about 20#) over a Yamaha with PT&T (198#). It should be about 20# lighter and about $300.00 cheaper than the Yami, Plus It will move the motor back about 5". I'll be re-doing the steering also and replacing the
tach and adding a hour meter.
Are there any holes in my plan? Should I stay with the stock prop or would another prop be better and save the stock prop for a backup?
I use the boat as a "beautiful" little fishing boat, no drag racing or trick water skiing, ha. but if the wind kicks up on the bay I want to get back to the dock.
I haven't really shopped around for price yet, does $4257.00 sound HI or LO for a 30hp

Thanks for any input, Darrell

Shop shop shop and then shop again. Do a search for Honda outboards and get some prices Then you can know for yourself. Being Bass pro shops is selling 90hp Merc 2 strokes for $4700, I think $4200 is steep but then again I am outa the loop. OOOOH! The dealer I got my Rude from has a 30hp Yamaha 4 stroke w/o power trim and he stated he'll never sell it because of that. Call 941-349-8880 and see. Shipping will be less than sales tax.

Just got off the Phone with them. They sold the 30...guess he was mistaken. He has 3 2001 25hp Yamaha 20" electric start manual tilt 4 strokes for $2553 set up for remote steering.

Geez...That's dirt cheep for the 25 Yamaha, I was quoted $3700 for that motor w/PT&T.. I'll get busy shopping in this area and if I can't find a better price out here on the left coast, I'll give your guy a call and see what he has. I'll also check with some of the big catalog guys and see what they have. The Yami was my second choice, never was a big Merc lover. Bigshot does my setup sound OK or is my Whaler going to turn into a Porpoise

My 17 with 340 and a plate does not porpoise. You will not need to trim as high with the plate. It is quite interesting.
