Need Input you guys. I'm thinking about putting a '94 C-85 Yamaha on my 17' SS Limited. Is anyone familiar with this engine that can tell me about it, it's pros and cons, performance, the best prop for this rig etc. Would appreciate any info. Thanks,
Salty

the C85 is the same as the 90 except it has no oil injection and it uses electric choke instead of Primestart,Yamaha's chokeless starting system.every 17 that I have driven that have the C85 seemed faster than the 90,I don't know why but thats just the way it felt to me

Detuned 90 w/o oil injection. 17" Yamaha prop will be great.

Bigshot,
Exactly what do you mean by "detuned"?

It is identical to a 90 but only putting out 85hp....therefore detuned. How? Could be absolutely nothing due to the fact they are allowed a 10% variance in HP. They might have called it a 85 to differenciate it from it's 90hp injected brother. They later stopped the 85 and it was just a C90. Now they do not make the C90 in 2002, only oil injected I believe. They also made a 75hp that was a detuned 90, not a hopped up 70 and I believe a 80 that was overseas called an Enduro(tiller).
