I own a 1978 21' revenge whaler and I'm considering a repower with a 225 mag EFI Mariner. I would like to ask what the difference is between a Mercury & Mariner. The motor is a 1995 Mariner Magnum EFI and the top end has been resleeved with new pistons. The owner was in a automobile accident and his boat was totaled and he purchased the engine. I have owned small Mariners but I'm not aware of the dependability and performance of the big-bores. I would appreciate any info anyone could give me before I consider this purchase!

The only difference is the paint job and decals. All parts are interchangable.

Mariner Motors are no longer avaliable in the USA. The mariner is now the export motor, for it doesn't reach the same epa regulations.
