iS ROLLER TRAILER OK

Have a new to me outrage. Has roller trailer--ie big fat rollers on the bottom, shaped like hourglasses and a bank of rollers on each side. Supposededly came from the dealer--Bigshot's favorite--this way.
Is this okay or does iot somehow hurt the foam?

The keel rollers you describe sound like the Whaler recommended type to me. The older Whaler owner's manual said to rest the boat on its keel, the strongest part of the boat. Its okay to balance the boat with bunks or rollers away from the keel as long as they don't carry the weight of the boat. The wobble rollers that touch the hull away from the keel and carry weight are the ones Whaler warns against. The hull gets pretty thin out toward the chines. Those easy loader type wobble rollers are said to dimple the hull after time.

Sounds like your trailer is a keel roller type with a pair of bunk rollers. I had a Cox trailer with the same setup under my 18 Outrage. A keel roller trailer is the type recommended by Whaler. If it is set up right, substantially all of the weight of the Outrage should rest on the keel rollers. The bunk rollers should be set to keep it from tipping over. The bunk rollers will not cause any dimpling or hurt the foam because there is really no weight on them when the trailer is set up right.

I have a 1987 Holsclaw set up like you describe and have noticed no disasters. Dealer set-up. I will however eventually replace the rollerbunks with carpeted bunks as per Whaler's recs. I would try to get the rollerbunks as close to the chine as possible, currently mine our just on the keel side of the sump drain clamshell and I don't like it. I'll move them outside of the clamshell for more support maybe this summer.

SOunds like its probably okay--it seems clear that the majority of the weight is on the 4 or 5 hour glass shapped rollers directly under the keel. The other rolleres are far out on the edges of the hull and prob. are there for ease of rolling and stability, but there can't be too much weight resting on them. I rpob chck withthe local dealer one of these days, although I intend to have it in the water for the summer soon.
