Have a 1997 Daughtnless powered by a 115HP Johanson. Have trouble keeping bow down at slow plaining speeds. Has anybody had experience with trim tabs on this boat? any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

I have a 2000 16 Ventura...the newer version of your boat and experienced the same problem. I considered trim tabs (especially the Nauticus Smart Tabs which require no hydraulics or elect. connections), but there really wasn't enough physical space to install them without removing the swim ladder.

Finally, I decided to install a Doel-Fin hydrofoil on my 90 Merc. after talking with other people here. The results were better than I had hoped...faster planing times, stay on plane at lower speeds, better steering at high speed...and very little effect on top speed. IMHO, that is definitely the way to go.
