FYI:
I just received letters from Honda Marine announcing two different recalls on Honda BF115 and BF130 outboards. They are:
1) Problem - the high-pressure fuel pumps may develop corrosion, resulting in failure.
Resolution - an improved replacement high-pressure fuel pump/water separator will be installed at no charge.
2) Problem - "a small number of these motors have developed localized cylinder head and/or engine block casting cracks. These cracks may cause internal water leaks and reduce the performance characteristics."
Resolution - American Honda is extending the warranty on the cylinder head and/or engine block assembly to a period of 10 years from the date of original retail purchase.

If you have previously paid for this repair, contact: American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Forgot to mention that Honda will authorize a one-time complimentary inspection of the cylinder head and engine block castings.

Have them check it at the end of the warrantee period.

make sure it is not prorated first. I guess a cracked block could impede the performance characteristics.....what a bunch of BS.

FWIW: I was in Tonga in May and the mechanics there were Honda-haters because of the 100% failure rate of fuel pumps. They corrode when not used for a week, and are a total b**ch to replace. Maybe the new ones are better.

Eric.
