Hi, Rosie.

I think a 40hp would meet your needs, but most, if not all of the EFI 4 stroke 40s are the same displacement and weight as a sister 50.

I would not consider a carbed engine, which leaves the Merc, Suzuki and Johnson (made by Suzuki)EFI 4 stroke 50s. All fine engines.

My personal preference would be the Johnson version of the Suzuki to get the Bombardier service network and to get something not painted black.

Ditto. Should be able to get one in the $4k range. Controls, etc should bring you to about $5k out the door.

thanks for the imput. why not a smaller hp say 30 35. what's the diffrence other than a longer planing time. like i said i don't need speed. power trim is a must. i really don't want any more hp then i need. notice you diden't mention honda.

You want resale don't ya? A 35 will still do over 30mph but you will have to run it hard to cruise at 23+. Get at least a 40 but for the extra couple hundred....do the 50. Resale will bring it back to you threefold.
