I have a 1985 Whaler 13. I am in the process of mounting a foot control trolling motor and need to know how accurate "wood placement" diagram is that I got from this forum. According to the diagram, the dotted lines, on either side of the bow is not as large as the "chekered" step pad. Does anyone know, precisely, where the wood is in relation to the "chekered" section? Maby I should get a hand controlled motor instead. What are your thoughts?---THANKS-----

When I mounted mine on my Montauk 3 years ago I put it where it would fit and didn't worry about the wood/Whalerboard. It has been used most every trip out and there have been no problems, even trailering with it attached.
Let me know if you want a picture of the set up.

If you are talking about the wood location diagram that is available on this website as part of the REFERENCE section (not part of the forum), it was provided by Boston Whaler and is assumed to be accurate.
