my logic tells me that since synthetic 2 cycles allow for thinner ratios (70+/1 as opposed to 50/1)than its okay if not even better to run oil grade 2 cycle with vro.

The vro controls the ratio depending upon the rpm and would actually put too much synthetic through (under manufacturers flow set up) since less synthetic is needed.

Is this logic correct or reversed somehow?

Not necessary and logic is correct but probably flawed. My Bud had some older 130 Yammies that smoked. He ran Amsoil in them for about 6 months and noticed NOTHING! All it did was hurt his wallet. Larry runs wal-Mart oil and has had great results. If concerned about quality issues, just run a good OEM oil and don't Happy!

There was relevant article in Feb 2002 issue of Boating Life, I think, which compared synthetic vs regular oils. Their conclusions basically same as Big's last two sentences. Synthetics work well if you want to pay but when in doubt can't go wrong with OEM product.
