I have a friend who traded for an alunimum fishing boat with a 40 Johnson. I want this motor for my 13' Whaler. The motor number is J40TEEIA. It has a tiller handle with electric start. How can I find out the year model of this motor?---THANKS---

I believe what you are looking for is the code for OMC....
It is "Introduces"...

I almost forgot....
It should also be a 15 inch shaft, otherwise there would have been the letter "L" in the serial number indicating a "LONG" shaft....

THANKS "whalersman", you just save me a lot of problems. My friend was told , by the owner, that he bought it new in 1995. Also, I wasn't considering whether it was long or short shaft. THANKS AGAIN!!

A 1991 has a one year only decal that is red and black. Very distinctive.
