I received a e-newsletter from Bombardier today. They state that they will be bringing out "revolutionary new outboards" in a few months. They said there will be a sneak peek at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show on 10/31. Any guesses? I hope it is their own and not painted Suzukis.

Might be the magical turbo/supercharged I-6 merc's been cookin' up. Then again, it might be a new paint job.
They are trying to stall those who are planning to purchase soon.

Full page ad in yesterday's Houston Barnicle, uh Chronicle, announcing Bombardier's touring roadshow featuring Evinrude / Johnson outboards.

I think I read it's an upgraded version of Ficht technology. But they would have to be worried about the new (supercharged, or whatever) Mercs, especially if Yamaha is in on the deal to share the technology.

So where are these super 4 strokes from Merc/Yam... 2004? 2005? I was a little disappointed with the 2003 line up... sort of a downsizing year.
I'm hoping that it won't be a little anti-climatic when they arrive with a $18-20,000 sticker price.

I just got a hold of the first 2003 Bambardier Catalog in my neighborhood. This is the first time I have seen the Johnson/Suzuki 140 4-Stroke listed. This Engine is still not on their Web Site..
As far as Evinrude goes, these engines have never been Suzki that I know of. Now Bombardier is calling them DFI's instead of the Ficht....
Now I realize that most of you live in an area where "IT" happens..... Please forgive me and the rest of us Whaler fanatics that live in remote areas because we are probably getting last years news....

Until 2002 the evinrude 4 strokes were Suzuki. They moved them to Johnson in 02 and painted them white. Before 99 I think they were both Evinryude and Johnson 4 strokes but made by OMC not suzuki and only in 6-15hp or so.

Thanks for the clarification Bigshot.
I owned a 1998 or 1999 Evinrude 8 HP, 4 Stroke for awhile and it was made by OMC.
I did not know that Evinrude was using Suzuki 4 Strokes for a couple of those in between years. I know that Johnson has been using the Suzuki 4 Stroke in their line up for some time now and Evinrude no longer has any 4 Strokes available. I believe the only Evinrude available now is the 2 Stroke, DFI's.......
