After getting stiffed by a seller who backed out of a verbal deal on a 22 outrage and having an owner sell a second 22 outrage out from under me after I had made a formal offer to the broker who had the boat listed I was beginning to question the ethics of people who sold boats--Until I met the Simpsons of Savannah,Georgia. Stan, his dad Stan, and his brother Joe are true gentlemen with impecable integrity. I negotiated the deal on a 25 outrage via phone. Stan emailed pics and took a video of the boat, being careful to point out the little dings he thought might concern a buyer. I sent him a deposit on the boat but he insisted that I inspect the boat, give it a sea trial and have a mechanic check the engine before we finalized the deal. I had to postpone my trip to Savannah for two weeks, Hurricane Lili and some highwater problems. Stan and his family were very accomodating and understood the delays. At the same time another anxious prospective buyer who has much deeper pockets than I was consistently raising his offer to several thousand more than the price the Simpsons and I agreed on. I learned this when I personally met the Simpsons for the first time this past week. They did not pressure me in any way during the time the other prospect was pressuring them to sell at a much higher price. I wanted to share my experience with forum members and to publically thank Stan, his dad and his brother joe for their courtesies and for the integrity with which they dealt with a complete stranger. The boat was a 9.5 on a 10 Scale, completely as represented. I picked it up this past Thursday and will enjoy it even more as a result of my experience in dealing with three true Southern Gentlemen from Savannah GA. By the way, there is lengthy thread on the performance of a 25 with a single 225 in the performance section. It performs as represented, cruises in the low-mid thirties and WOT is over 40mph. Thanks to the Simpsons-Three Great guys. JIM

JimU -

Nice story. Its great to hear that there are people out there who keep their word. There are likely a lot more than we think.
