Would a few of you folks be kind enough to post what you think you are getting for fuel consumption at various RPM's? I have a just acquired '93 OR 17 with a 100HP 'Rude, and it's probably in the same general range as the typical Montauk with 90/100HP. So far, the only "test" we've done is to fill the built-in tank until the nozzle shut-off, then run it for a couple of hours then measure the refill to the same shut-off point. I know this isn't a good test, but it's only been in the water for two days so far :-( That day, last Monday, running around Boston harbor in the 28-32MPH range ( 3000 RPM range I think, but I wasn't aboard to confirm) with a prety good chop, just about 2 hours, it used 13 gallons. This doesn't sound bad to me, but I'd like to get a feel for the general expectations. By the way, i don't have the prop specs yet, so I can't add much to the details. One thing I do know is that it takes a lot more fuel than the 13 with J-40, but speed and capability more than make up for that.

I have only measured fuel consumption once on my montauk with 90 hp 2 stroke. Travelling mostly up river with a mild current for 16 miles or so, we were either at no-wake speed, or darn near wide open throttle.
We Averaged better than 3mpg. I would guess that 90% of the distance traveled was at WOT.
No data yet for cruise speed.

Take along a 6 gallon tank. Fill it with 3 gallons and then just cruise. However long it takes to burn it will tell you your mileage. I do NOT like to talk MPG, I use GPH. So if it takes 1/2 hour you burn 6GPh at cruise. My revenge with a 140 Zuki burned about 5gph at 4k.
