New o/b for an old boat

It looks like I'm taking the plunge and replacing my '87 60hp Evinrude. I'm interested in what choices some of you have made. The 60 was more than enough power for me; cruising, tubing, & fishing. Would I be satisfied with a new 40-50 hp?
And of course I'm concerned with the added weight of the newer models.
p.s. The boat is an '87 Supersport15.
Thnx and looking forward to any opinions.

go with the a new (Leftover) 70 johnson, it the same motor as your 60hp and has more power. Right now everyone is 4 stroke crazy so you can get them dirt cheap if you shop, plus all controls, holes and wiring will match. The 70 johnson is a great motor!

I second the 70 Johnson recommendation! Also check out the Merc 60hp three cyl (59 cubic inch)two stroker at about 207 lbs... a lot of power in a very, very light motor! Am getting ready to put a 60hp 2 stroke Merc on my 15 CC! Happy Whalin'... Clark.. Spruce Creek Navy
