I have a 1985-- 13'Sport with a 1985 Johnson 40. I posted earlier, on this forum, that I couldn't identify my prop. All the numbers were polished off. I went to a prop shop and they were no help. I weigh 175 pounds and have approximately 40 pounds of gear. The motor runs perfectly with a maximum rpm of 4,200 and a speed of 33 mph, according to my depth finder. At this speed, my spray, beside the boat, is about even with the console. What size prop would you suggest to raise my rpm's to say 5,200?

I would check the tach first. I believe the 40 would run a 15" on the 13' and get close to the max rpm's of 5500. I think the 17" would be too much.
