Does anybody have a 115 hp johnson on a montauk. Weighing in at only 335 lbs., seem like it would be another good choice for a montauk. If so what are the performance figures.

Had a 1983 Montauk with a 1982 115 Johnson. With a 21" OMC SST prop and medium load it would run about 47 MPH at 5700 RPMs. Was a good combo, but probably did not need that much power.

Hi I have a 1986 115hp Yamaha on a 1971 Nauset. It works well. No chine walk. 49mph, We ski a lot off it. Good hole shot. Used to have a 100hp Johnson and 115 hp is better holeshot. I recommend 115 hp.

I have similar performance with my 01 115 Evinrude Ficht. I get 43knots/49mph with a 21" OMC prop. It seems like the guys who have newer 90hp engines are getting performance which is about the same. I wish my 362lb engine was about 100lbs lighter though.

My grandfauther has a 1995 115hp merc on his 1985 Moutauk. I don't know the weaght of the motor I think its more then it should be. I've taken the boat out a lot. With a 115 the boat REALLY moves. In a chop the boat will launch out of the water pretty good. (This is not always a good thing) Good Luck,

The first engine on my '77 Montauk was the old 90 degree crossflow OMC 115. Great engine w/ more than enough power. I have a 2002 Johnson 90 2 stroke and it is even more powerful with better holeshot and fuel economy.

Have an old 72 17' with an 86 110 Johnson. 13 1/4 X 21" prop turning at 5500 RPM runs her around 50-52. Get a little chine walk when I trim her all the way up but she moves. Great hole shot!!
